I am an in-house IP Manager and searcher working in the UK, more or less
on my own (with admin support).
Although I am a qualified UK and EP Patent Agent and an experienced
searcher (5 years search examiner at
EPO; 5 years in current job) I need to keep up with developments in the
fields of both Intellectual Property and searching, which is difficult
without colleagues to discuss with. My field of interest is mainly
physics / engineering / semiconductors, and I also do some Trade Mark
searching.
Can anyone recommend some good sources of training? I would ideally like
some sort of general
keep-up-and-improve-your-searching course, as I use many hosts
(Questel/Orbit, Dialog, some ESA-IRS),
and also some IP courses, if anyone knows of any. I have been to a few
1-day and 2-day conferences on
IP but I tend to find them pitched at too general a level - what I need
to know about are real nitty gritty issues
about claim language or whatever. Also, are there any IP courses which
are international in their flavour?
Thanks for your time,
Nia
