An interesting story was recently posted on Cnet where a message
encoded with 56-bit encryption (DES algorithm) was broken by a
single person with a 90 MHz pentium in three months using a
"brute-force" attack method. This amount of time is certainly
within a range for concern for patent activities, as well as long term
business decisions communicated over the internet. Will we be
seeing longer keys (80 or 128-bit) implemented in secure sessions
for database access in the near future?
