Suggestion for 1997 workshop

A PIUG member presented the idea of having a two-day workship with the
second day devoted to roundtable(s) and the first day devoted to other
programming. She suggested that the idea be posted to the PIUG
listserv for discussion.
From my POV, the programming would take longer but quite doable, but
the physical logistics would be a lot more difficult.
The workshops have had a shoestring budget in the past. For a two-day
workshop, if we had to go offsite or could not get meeting rooms in
industrial locations as we have in the past, would a nominal fee to
rent a meeting room and for refreshments (catered lunch?) be OK
(~$20.00-30.00 per person or less depending on the number of attendees
or donations; I have two possible sites in mind)? What other issues
need to be considered for a two-day workshop?
