Subject: IPC Searching - Patent Searching Knowledge Base??

Hello,
Michael Rein's question has sparked a flurry of responces in the use of
IPC's. This collection of notes and particularly Don Walter's detailed
message providing details across multiple vendors as well as the many
messages giving insights and caveats to the use of IPC's all belong in a
"Patent Searching Knowledge Base".
Don, I pose the question to you, rather than sending paper copies of your
presentation to those who happen to be currently subscribed to the PIUG list
and who happen to request a copy, could you instead create a web-based
version of your presentation? This would be a good "seed" paper for a
Patent Searching Knowledge Base. Presumably your full presentation includes
items that do not easily translate into a text email message. A web page
would allow these additional items to be included.
A paper copy of your presentation will just add to the mountain of paper in
my office. I'd much rather have it stored out on Derwen't server with a
nice little index that I do not need to maintain. Then I could easily find
it when I need it, and save you the printing and postage costs of mailing it
out.
Please give this idea some thought,
