Just to clarify things,

The Derwent 1996 Guide to Patent Expiries mentioned by Carl Oppedahl is a
different product to the Patent Extensions Directory. To copy some of the
text at the URL quoted by Carl(http://www.derwent.com/products/gpe.html):

"The Guide to Patent Expiries is an essential reference source for all
users of patents who need to determine the expiry dates of patents from around
the world. The Guide provides a single source of all the information needed to
calculate these dates for patents issued by more than 110 authorities."

Hope this clarifies things a little.

To flesh this out a bit, I am especially interested in possible patent
extensions for selected pharmaceutical patents worldwide. I know that
Derwent publishes the Patent Extensions Directory for several countries (JP,
US, GB, DE, I believe); also, the IMS database I referred to covers
additional countries (56 according to a recent STN database catalog).
Still, I am finding there are countries not covered, and patents not
included in either source. Also, as you mention, Inpadoc covers legal
status for a dozen or so countries, (although I am not sure which ones).
In general, not having much experience in this area, I wondered whether
others knew of other avenues (online, internet, services, consultants, etc.)
or had found companies/firms which have expertise in this area.

>This makes things a little clearer. There is particular interest in
pharmaceutical patents as they can be so valuable. You still haven't said what
sort of countries you are interested in but, on the non-online side, try Martin
Paltnoi Associates, a London firm that builds up its own databases of records
and supplies data from it. They are on tel 181 886 3582, fax 181 886 0319 from
abroad.
