Amanda Stembridge, a member of the PATMG committee and organiser of many
successful events for the PATMG, died tragically young and unexpectedly in
late 1993.
It is in her honour that we are pleased to announce the second award of a
bursary to attend the annual meeting of the European Patent Office / EPIDOS
in Italy in autumn this year.
The bursary is open to all bona fide students of information science /
librarianship courses in Europe, provided that they are on the student
register during 1996. The bursary is to the maximum value of GBP 800 (eight
hundred pounds sterling), covering air, sea or train fares and all
reasonable expenses. The winner will be expected to attend the meeting and
write a report for the PATMG newsletter, "Searcher".
To enter the competition, students should submit an essay of between 250 and
500 words, typed or word-processed, in English, on EITHER of the following
two topics :
1.
How best do you think the Internet can be exploited to disseminate patent
and trade mark information ?
OR.
2.
What future do you think copyright has in the age of the Internet ?
Entries must be submitted by September 1st. 1996. They will be judged by a
panel appointed by the PATMG and the winner will be contacted in time to
attend the meeting in early October.
