As announced earlier, the course will be held in Arlington, VA, on
September 17-19. It will cover the basics of US and foreign patent law,
supplementary market protection for pharmaceutical products, overviews
of patent documents, patent searching objectives, patent information
resources and searching techniques, discussions of special features in
pharmaceutical patent searching and suggestions for reporting results.
Presentations on the patent search features of STN, Dialog, Questel and
Orbit, and a tour of the US Patent and Trademark Office will be
included. Confirmed speakers are Edlyn Simmons, Richard Elder, Sara
Davis, Lucille Brown, Andy Berks, Norman Schmuff, Faye Kramer, Kerry
Stanley and Kenna Mawk. There will also be a luncheon address by Gerald
J. Mossinghoff of George Washington U., formerly Commissioner of Patents
and Trademarks and President of PhRMA.
