Canadian Patents

I hadn't realized that neither WPI nor INPADOC contained Canadian PCT transfers
- thanks, Edlyn and Steve for bringing this to people's attention. It's a bit
surprising that Derwent and EPIDOS both state that they cover Canada, and then
don't include PCT transfers.

I heartily endorse Edlyn's request that both Derwent and EPIDOS obtain both the
backlog and new information as it appears, and make it all available for
routine family searches. If this isn't possible for some reason, users should
be clearly informed that the information is not provided.

For those of you in the pharmaceutical business who have not already discovered
it, the Canadian Drug Patent Register is on the web at:

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/main/drugs/drhtmeng/patents.html

Unlike the US Orange Book, it includes antibiotics and biologicals, and can
thus be a pointer to US patents for these products if other approaches are
unsuccessful.
