Subject: JP in INPADOC
Hey there, you who rely on the INPADOC file for Japanese patent information!
It could just make a fool of you
If you don't open your eyes!
(With apologies to the lyricist of 'Pajama Game', whose identity
escapes me at the moment.)
Now that I've got your attention, be aware of the fact that it has been
quite a while since any JP info got into INPADOC. The newest stuff I could
find in the ORBIT INPD file was dated 3/19/97, and there was NO JP info in
the 6-week INPN file!
I've instituted a query to find out what's happening. Meantime, Memo to the
EPO: as ultimate producers of this database I believe that you have a
responsibility to notify those who spend money to obtain information from
the database when there are problems; this is precisely the sort of thing
that I stressed in my input to the March 7 hearing on EPO information
policy. We who depend on your database for critical decisions need to know
if and when there are problems.
