The two-letter country code listings can be found in WIPO standard ST.3,
included in the loose-leaf "Handbook of Patent Information and
Documentation" (3 volumes). Alternatively, consult ISO standard 3166,
alpha-2 codes for national identification. The latter is not limited to
countries issuing intellectual property documentation.
I have a large card-index by my desk for this sort of question - it may not
be high-tech but it's totally immune to system crashes.
