A new award, the 'International Patent Information Award' is being
established to honor the great professionals of the patent information
industry. Announcements at the recent European Patent Office (EPIDOS)
Annual Conference, the International Chemical Information Conference in
Annecy, and the Patent Information User Group (PIUG) Annual Conference, gave
details of the Award as well as names of the members of an international
selection board responsible for reviewing nominations.
*** DEADLINE FOR RECEIPT OF AWARD NOMINATIONS - SEE BELOW ***
BACKGROUND:
In many areas of sciences and the arts there are awards acknowledging the
significant achievements of individuals and their service towards the
advancement of their fields. No such award has existed in the field of
patent information and related disciplines. However, there are many
individuals who, through their ideas, hard work, dedication, and personal
leadership, have made a significant positive impact on the profession as
well as the patent and scientific community.
The 'International Patent Information Award' is therefore being established
and will be presented on an annual basis. The Award is aimed at recognizing
individual contributions towards the advancement of patent information and
related disciplines, and to the patent information world in general, and is
not limited to producers and service providers. The Award, established and
sponsored by Technology & Patent Research International (TPR), will consist
of a plaque and an honorarium of $2500 or other currency equivalent.

appointed each year.
