1999 PIUG NE Workshop--post meeting

I want to thank everyone who helped put this Workshop together.

*Barbara Ikeler and her staff at Novartis for hosting it--they did
a wonderful job
*Anna Marie McKee and Mary Talmadge-Grebenar for arranging for
speakers
*Norman Santora and Sandra Unger for their presentations
*Marty Goffman for arranging the alternative careers panel and
Barbara Burg, Barbara Ikeler, Kerry Stanley, and Don Walter who
participated
*Barbara Ikeler who coordinated the Vendor Roast as well as the
roastees. Most of questions focused on standardization between
systems, future plans, and value added features such as indexing.
It will be back next year.
*and to Derwent Information, CAS and STN, Dialog, and Questel/Orbit
for their sponsorships.

111 people registered and 97 attended the 1999 NE Workshop. Last
year, 102 people registered and 85 attended. The day went well
although we started running late during Harold Safferstein's
presentation.

Most of the comments were positive.

I have begun working on finding a site for next year.

The survey generates the ideas for future workshops. If want to be
on the program committee, let me know. If you want to or can
host the Workshop, let me know even sooner.. If you haven't
given/sent me your survey, pls do so. Electronically to
