Parke-Davis Pharmaceutical Research, a division of Warner-Lambert, in Ann
Arbor, Michigan, is devoted to the discovery and development of
pharmaceutical products that "make the world feel better". We have an
immediate opening within Knowledge Management Services for a highly
motivated and energetic Information Scientist, specializing in the fields
of patents and chemistry. Individuals with experience in patents and either
organic synthesis or pharmaceutical chemistry are required.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Provide research support to key decision makers (including
information analysis and executive summaries)
* Serve as a member of drug discovery and development teams
* Track competitors and industry trends
* Evaluate and recommend new resources and serve as an expert in
selected resources
* Serve as an information management consultant
* Participate in self-directed team and on teams for cross-functional
work groups
* Train end-users
* Interact with research scientists, patent attorneys, licensing,
marketing and management to support the company's business objectives

Required Qualifications:

* MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry
* 3-5 Years experience in information or research analysis in the
fields of chemistry and/or patents
* Experience searching commercial patent and chemical information via
various vendors (e.g. STN, Dialog)
* Experience in chemical structure searching, patent generic structure
searching and Derwent coding
* Experience in the pharmaceutical industry
* Capable of performing detailed, meticulous, unsupervised research
* Demonstrated skills in aggregating, organizing, and analyzing
complex, multi-source information
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Highly developed interpersonal skills
* Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities while working on
several teams and projects
* Must be able to handle highly sensitive information in a
confidential manner
* Strong set of computer software skills and a background in
information management, data mining and visualization tools are a plus.

Must have proof of legal authority to work permanently in U.S.
