Hi all,

In further response to Yvonne's reply describing the INPADOC file to answer
Beth's question:

The INPADOC file was just reloaded on STN and has some new neat
search/display features. As Yvonne mentioned if you have an answer set of
relevant records retrieved from another patent file the patent information
can be transferred to INPADOC (MAP on Dialog, TRANSFER on STN). To limit to
those records with ONLY a published EP application we can NOT out the patent
kind code for granted EP patents. The EP published applications and granted
patents now make up a single record in INPADOC on STN.

Remember for PCT applications no granted patent is ever published. However
the PCT may pursue to a National Phase application for desired designated
states. This can be determined using the new SEARCHABLE legal status field
in INPADOC on STN. You can search both the legal status codes (/LSC field)
mentioned by Yvonne and legal status text (/LSTX field).

On STN:

=> FILE INPADOC
=> TRANSFER L1 1- PN, APPS (retrieves all equivalent family members in
INPADOC, L2)
=> HELP KIND (if you are not familiar with kind codes - similar HELPs in
WPINDEX and CAplus)
=> S L2 AND EP/PC NOT EPB#/PK (retrieves only EP records without a published
granted EP patent)
=> S L2 AND WO/PC (retrieves all PCT published applications)
=> S L2 AND WO/PC AND (NAT?(S)PHASE)/LSTX (retrieves all PCT applications
with an entry into a national phase)

Other possibly interesting legal status searches may be (=> S
(REQUEST(S)EXAM?)/LSTX OR => S (OPPOSITION(S)(FILED OR REJECT?))/LSTX, or by
code if you know them for specific countries (=> S EP17P/LSC for EP Requests
for Examination Filed).

Remember on STN publications from different issuing authorities are in
separate records. A new display format FFAM provides the complete family
display including legal status. If you wish the family member for a
specific country use the new format FFAM.PC where PC is the two letter
country code, e.g. => D FFAM.EP to see the EP family equivalents.

FYI,

Kerry

Subject: searching patent application

Hello all:

I rarely search for patent information, so I'm hoping someone can help me.

A client wants me to search for PCT and EP applications that were not issued
as patents. Is there any way to do this?
