I was presented with an inquiry today regarding access to patent family =
information on drugs for HIV/AIDS. As you may know, there is much =
discussion about compulsory licensing and parallel importation of these =
drugs in developing nations. One factor of course is whether there is =
patent protection in particular countries.

I discussed INPADOC and the World Patent Index with my colleague. The =
question arose whether there were any Web sources which collate this data =
to avoid cost and search learning curve. So I guess I have two questions:

1. are there easy / inexpensive ways to ascertain in which country certain =
HIV/AIDS drugs have patent protection; and

2. are there pharmaceutical files which collate this data in a format more =
comprehensive and/or easy to access than INPADOC and the World Patent =
Index.

This area is not my forte so your help would save me time and would be =
greatly appreciated.

Regards -
