To one and all, and especially Drs. Buntrock, Maizell, and Roth: I lied!
Or at least, my memory was apparently playing tricks on me. The librarian
in our former site has examined the SLA CA Patent Index and has assured me
that it covers 1907-1936, not 1920- as I had misremembered. As for the
title, I earlier had to correct myself on a note sent to a smaller
audience. Looks as if these senior moments are increasing in frequency.
