2nd Call For Papers
Division of Chemical Information
American Chemical Society National Meeting
New Orleans Louisiana, August 22-26, 1999
Integrating Primary and Secondary Literature on the WWW
Access to journals, patents and other primary literature has
proliferated
in recent years, as have web interfaces to indexes to that literature.
In many cases, the hyperlinking functions of the WWW have been employed
to
link indexes to the corresponding primary literature. In other cases,
links have been built from full-text sources back to indexes which cover
the document. The American Chemical Society Division of Chemical
Information is seeking speakers for a symposium at the New Orleans
National Meeting who are interested in speaking on this integration of
the primary and secondary literature on the Web.
Suggested topics include: descriptions by publishers of journals and
other
documents or publishers of indexes or third parties who have undertaken
such linking, of their objectives, current efforts and goals for the
future; discussion of the implication of such integration for the
various
types of literature; for research and education; for information
professionals and end-users. Any interested parties please reply to the
organizer, listed below.
Submissions should be made on the ACS electronic abstract submission,
page
available at http://207.244.115.201/acs/218nm/. Please contact the
organizer for further information. The deadline for submission is April
15, 1999.
