Division of Chemical Information
American Chemical Society National Meeting
New Orleans Louisiana, August 22-26, 1999

Developments in Markush Patent Searching

It has been the case for some time that, patent searchers can find the level
of complexity and the vast number of compounds associated with searching for
Markush prophetic compounds daunting. The American Chemical Society Division
of Chemical Information is seeking speakers for a symposium at the New Orleans
National Meeting who are interested in speaking on developments for patent
searching on Markush structures.

Suggested topics are new developments in searching vast libraries, methods for
communicating results to minimize the confusion that these substances can
create, recent developments in Markush searching, sharing generic
fragmentation code generated answers where a document may not necessarily
contained the desired substance and other topics dealing with searching and
disseminating results based on prophetic compounds. Opportunities are also
available for a poster to be presented on the same topic during the divisions
poster session. Any interested parties please reply to the organizer, listed below.

Submissions should be made on the ACS electronic abstract submission, page
available at http://207.244.115.201/acs/218nm/. Please contact the organizer
for further information. The deadline for submission is April 15, 1999.
