Although Andy is correct in remembering that Argentina resisted implementing
GATT-compliant changes to its patent laws, he is not correct in his
understanding that Argentina has no patent laws. They do have a patent
system, although they don't give the kind of meaningful coverage we get from
most countries. When last I checked, Argentina was still accepting only
process claims on pharmaceuticals.

I recall reading that Argentina was fighting with the US
over the GATT accords a few years ago, and the country basically refused to
establish a patent system. This was in the Pharma industry newsletters,
probably in 1995-96.

Would anyone know of a source that would cover patents
published in
Argentina? According to the vendors websites, Derwent WPI
covers
Argentina only in 1975, Inpadoc covers Argentina from 1973
to 1991 (from
Contents and coverage of PFS bibliographic file), Chemical
Abstracts
does
not cover Argentina.
