A resonable bet is that the patents that expired because of failure to pay
maintenance fees probably failed to result in viable products.

However, lots of other patents whose maintenance fees were paid probably
also failed to result in viable products.

Then again, products may be the result of multiple patents; and patents may
be the precursor of multiple products. (There is not necessarily a 1-1
relation between productive patents and actual products.)

So, any statistical analysis based on patents and maintenance fees may have
some value, but should also be viewed with strong suspicion.
