I am wondering if any of you can answer a question about the
espacenet database entitled "world patents" or "worldwide
documents", accessible at
http://dips-2.dips.org/dips/ep/en/dips-epd.htm. As I read
the help file on this database (which file is accessible at
http://www.european-patent-office.org/espacenet/help/world/d
ata1.htm), it seems to say that the full text of certain
patents, including EPO, are accessible. Yet, when you try
to conduct a search on the "world patents" database, the
searchable fields do not include a fulltext field. The
field coming closest is the abstracts and title field. How
does one access the fulltext for searching purposes?

I also note from the "worldwide documents" help file that it
seems to indicate fulltext data of US patents is included
back to 1968. However, the file is unclear in this regard.
In particular, the help file might alternatively mean that
only bibliographic coverage (as opposed to fulltext
coverage) goes back to 1968, but the table in the file is
not clear. If this is true (fulltext to 1968 or
bibliographic data to 1968), and one can access the data via
the www, then this database is *more* comprehensive than the
respective fulltext or bibliographic www database offered by
the USPTO (at www.uspto.gov)! Can anyone clarify this for
me?

Many thanks,
Drew Patty
