I can confirm that all the recent out of date messages sent to the piug
subscribers are a result of the flushing of the mail spool queue on
Friday.
Essentially the clean-up forced an attempted delivery of all messages
that had previously not been succcessfully delivered. [ Normally there
are repeated delivery attempts until a certain period when the messages
are marked undeliverable and frozen on the queue. The forced delivery
caused these to be retried. ]
Having examined the spool queue there are no further out of date
messages awaiting delivery.
We can only apologise to yourselves and the subscribers for the
inconvenience and anxiety that has resulted from this. A policy is
being implemented that will prevent this happening again.
