Pfizer, one of the world's leading healthcare companies, has a vacancy for a
Patent Information Scientist in the Central Research Division located in
Sandwich, Kent, England.
As one of our patent information scientists, you will be responsible for the
provision of high quality information services covering the patent
literature and related sources in support of the research programmes at
Sandwich. In this role, you will demonstrate expertise in use of patent and
scientific information systems and an ability, through scientific insight,
to interpret, analyse and integrate information. Through your initiative and
influence, this service will be refined and developed to meet the current
and future needs of your R&D colleagues. To this end, strong working
relationships will be developed with senior researchers in selected project
areas in Sandwich. A detailed awareness of their business goals and
scientific objectives will be essential.
Applications are sought from candidates possessing a good honours degree or
equivalent in chemistry, preferably with a post graduate qualification or
experience in chemical research/information science. You will be familiar
with the research process and be proficient in the use of scientific
information with special emphasis on organic chemistry.
You will already be using computer-based chemical information systems. You
will have an awareness of information needs of projects and to pro-actively
use that knowledge to influence project direction. You will need to possess
good communication and organisational skills, the ability to understand,
interpret and articulate client needs, with the capacity to work
independently and/or with project teams as necessary.
