Dear Rodney
(a) Estonia allowed for re-registration of USSR patents?
Yes: it was possible to re-register both granted SU patents and pending
applications until 31 Dec 1993 into the national EE system. I have no
information whether the specifications were re-issued and what KD codes
were used if so.
(b) Latvia allowed for re-registration of USSR patents?
Yes; applications pending before the SU office on 31 Dec 1991 could be
transferred to the LV office until (initially) 31 Dec 1992, later
extended to 30 Jun 1993. Granted patents needed to be re-registered by
the same deadline. The transfer was notified in the gazette as an
LV-A3, but I do not think the specification was published.
(c) Lithuiania allowed for re-registration of USSR patents?
Yes; applications pending and granted SU patents could be re-registered
until 30 Sep 1993. As with Latvia, the document published as an LT-A3.
If so, were there any restrictions?
Can any of these Baltic States be searched online?
INPADOC covers Latvia from 1994, Lithuania from 1992 and Estonia from
1995. CAS includes specifications of chemical interest from 1994, 1994
and 2000 respectively. WPI does not cover any of these countries.
PlusPat on Questel includes Latvia and Lithuania again from 1994 and
Estonia from 1995. The Estonian PO is at < www.epa.ee
<http://www.epa.ee> > and loads both patent and utility model gazettes
from 2003, Latvia at < www.lrpv.lv <http://www.lrpv.lv> > and Lithuania
at < www.vpb.lt <http://www.vpb.lt> > and appears to load the current
issue of its gazette.
