New Online Italian Patent Database

Dear colleagues,
we have finally a online database of Italian patents, utility models,
design models, plant patents, topographies and trademarks, called =
SIMBA.
The service is now only available in Italian language at site:
https://telemaco.infocamere.it/ <https://telemaco.infocamere.it/> , and
foreign subscribers are not allowed due to bureaucratic problems.
Infocamere, the company in charge with the IT for the Italian Chambers
of Commerce system (they manage - inter alia - the e-filings), say that
in two/three months should be available an English language interface
and the access opened to foreigners.
I have been a beta-tester for the database SIMBA before the public
launch and think it is quite a good source of information even if it is
not 100% reliable due some clerical errors and other minor problems.
It includes data beginning from 1980 and also the payment of the annual
fees for patents are indicated.
Updating is one of the most interesting thing, since for some chambers
of commerce the filing data are available in few days.
Please note that in Italy filings are accepted in each chamber of
commerce plus by the UIBM direct and post office (105 different
offices!), therefore it should be understood that there could be
differencies in the updating and in other features amongst the =
different
office, with regard to the filling in of the data.
E-filings should improve greatly the precision of the system.
