Information Scientist (Patents)
GlaxoSmithKline, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina


GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), a major international pharmaceutical company, has
an opening for an Information Scientist in the Corporate Intellectual
Property group. This position is located in Research Triangle Park,
North Carolina (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area).

 Minimum Requirements:
* * * * *Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry;
* * * * *2+ years of patent searching experience focused on technologies
employed in chemical and/or pharmaceutical research and pre-clinical
development;
* * * * *Experience in searching major online and internet sources of
patents;
* * * * *Familiarity with basic biology.
  
Participate as a member of the Corporate Intellectual Property
department to deliver patent and literature information in support of
the patent filing process, investigations into 3rd party intellectual
property, and other business decisions. Conduct validity, infringement,
freedom-to-use and other patent-related searches primarily in chemistry
areas, and provide clear, concise reports for use by patent attorneys.
Additional involvement in due diligence work, as well as some non-patent
related searches.

Work with Information Scientists and attorneys throughout GSK’s
transnational intellectual property group to ensure appropriate
prioritization, optimization and completion of work.


Successful candidate must be detail-oriented with excellent
communication skills, able to work independently as well as within a
team.
