New Online Italian Patent Database from fildata on 2005-02-16 (PIUG-L 2005)

Dear Guido,

I'm frankly surprised at your communications. Where is the news? There is a
bad Italian patent information system online not available for foreign
users!...actually, it is hardly available for Italian users either!
I've just tried to follow the link shown in your e-mail and I could not
find a single word on a database called SIMBA nor any instructions on
subscribing to an online patent database.

But I'm even more surprised because just before last Christmastime you
yourself, Guido, were also surprised by the "public" launch (is there any
public announcement from Infocamere or a press release??)of this database
because of the many gaps and data errors which it contained; and you, as a
beta-tester, also warned Italian users (newsgroup AIDB) to be carefull and
pay attention to it. We all kwow that no database is 100% reliable, but this
one particularly suffers from bad backlog from the Italian Patent Office
(UIBM) and bad updating... the UIBM is not releasing new data since the 31th
of December 2003 because of problems in their "new" information system.

What now? I understand that we in Italy would like to offer a more
acceptable patent information system, but...why should we continue to
mislead the international community of patent information professionals? Why
complain about our 105 different receiving offices? or about our e-filing
system which is still far too inadequate to be implemented and used?
Would it not be better to wait until something more reliable and user
friendly is available?
