Can you be somewhat more specific?

For patents, the major traditional vendors are still hard to beat.

For literature, database coverage will very depending on field. If you
really need to find that piece of prior art, several industry
associations in Japan maintain libraries that are open to the general
public. I have personally used those in the areas of printing trades
(excellent library), pharmaceuticals, aerospace and agricultural
chemicals. Check with the patent law firm in Japan that you usually use.
