Hi there, old friends. For those of you who don't have enough reading
to do, I call to your attention a book review that appeared in today's
NYTimes--the reviewer John Strausbaugh. Two books are reviewed:
Patently Ridiculous, by Richard Ross (160 pp, Plume, $12)
The Big Bento Box of Unuseless Japanese Inventions, by Kenji
Kawakami (303 pp, W. W. Norton, $12.95)
Both books about non-earthshaking inventions, and I haven't seen either
so I can't vouch for either. I'll note, though, that the review makes
no mention of Arthur Pedrick. Pedrick wouldn't be relevant to the
Japanese book, but otherwise I don't know how anyone could put together
a book of unusual inventions without starting with Pedrick!
Best regards to all, and I hope to see many of you at the PIUG meeting
in May.
