Jeremy,

Australia has a provisional patent document that can be filed to set
priority date and must be completed into a standard patent within a
year. The early provisionals had the numbering format PX1234, where X
is a letter from a particular series. This numbering system has now
been changed.

For access to the document, you may be able to contact the Sales Unit at
IPAustralia for them to send you a copy and what the costs involved
would be. Their email address is SalesUnit_at_ipaustralia.gov.au I think
the basic photocopy charge is AU$150. If I had ready access to one of
the IPAustralia suboffices I would get a copy for you myself for the
cost of postage but unfortunately I don't. Maybe someone else in
Australia could help Jeremy?

Hope this helps.
Barry

Source for older Australian patent applications

Greetings -

Would someone be able to tell me the meaning of the PG designation,
followed by a 4 digit number in the context of Australian patent
applications?

The app I am interested in is from 1983. Also, if anyone can recommend a
source for obtaining a copy of the document...the Australian IP database
doesn't seem to go back that far. Thank you in advance.
