Assessing conflicting information on legal status for U.S. patent

Failure to pay maintenance fees is reported in the USPTO's CD product
CASSIS-BIB as E1, E2, or E3 under "status." If a patent is subsequently
revived, it is reported as R1, R2 or R3. I don't know what lags there
might be, either between the formal lapse date and the appearance in the
database, or between the actual revival and its appearance in the
database.
