I was involved in the generation of the first free on-line patent database (that I am aware of) which was the AIDS related patent database for for the USPTO. This was back in 1994. It would surprise me if anything were available on the web in 1993, since NCSA mosaic only became widely available late that year.
I also worked on the USPTO patent bibliographic database started in mid/late1995, and several other databases came on line in the following year or so, IBM/Delphion among them.
People forget how recent the web is sometimes.

Would anyone perhaps be able to tell me which free public access patent
databases covering EP patents was available in 1993 (specifically June
1993) - if any? I've already worked out that Espacenet wasn't around
back then. Eg. what about Delphion (previously IBM IP database), which
used to be free until some time last year, I think?
Also, apart from DWPI and INPADOC, which other paid-for/subscription
patent databases covering EP patents were available back then?
Any light you can shed on this whould be greatly appreciated.
