With the recent postings about services that provide ways of looking
at the FDA's Orange Book information, I would like to let the list
know about my service, OrangeBookPatents.com
(http://www.orangebookpatents.com).

As the name implies, OrangeBookPatents.com is first and foremost
dedicated to patent and exclusivity information. We do not try to
give you another way of looking at the whole Orange Book. The free
Electronic Orange Book of the FDA does that well enough.

OrangeBookPatents.com provides a set of enhanced patent and
exclusivity information that combines data from seven different
sources, so you do not need to look at each source individually to
get the full picture for a product.

Subscribers have access to the following additional features or
information not found in the FDA's paper "Patent and Exclusivity
Addendum" to the Orange Book or at the Electronic Orange Book site:

     * four separate lists of approved drugs (instead of just one),
each sorted differently:

           o 1) by tradename,
           o 2) by generic name,
o 3) by NDA applicant name, and
o 4) chronologically by the next-to-expire patent for each product.

     * each list is formated into a multiplicity of easy-to-read
tables (rather than one long table like those provided by other
services). The list under the letter "A" in our Free Stuff section is
a sample of the format that subscribers see.

     * each patent number is a link to the text at the PTO's web site

     * each NDA number is a link to the Electronic Orange Book
record for that NDA

     * the title of each patent is listed

     * the subject matter covered by each patent is listed (e.g.,
compound, composition, use, etc.). We found nineteen different types!
We are slowing adding comments about the subject matter covered by
the patents where we feel it would be helpful.

     * extended patents are highlighted for easy identification, so
you can see which patent the drug owner regards as the most relevant
for their product

     * each month we create a "What's New" file that shows all the
changes to patents and exclusivity from the previous month. This
month we started listing patents that have been deleted since the
previous month.

     * each table includes the full exclusivity and use code
descriptions, so you do not have to look them up in a separate list

     * for drugs having Orphan Exclusivity, the actual orphan
indication is provided rather than just the "ODE" code

     * the NDA Applicant's name is included for each product

     * the strength (mg, mg/ml, etc.) for each variation of a
product is listed, so that you can immediately see how Product 001
differs from Product 002, etc.

     * our lists have less duplication, since the different
variations (strengths) of a product are combined together in a single
table when the patent and exclusivity information for all of the
variations is identical

     * we have indexes of all tradenames, generic names and
companies that have at least one patent or exclusivity listed in the
Orange Book.

     * each variation of a product is identified as being
prescription (RX), other-the-counter (OTC), or discontinued (DISC)

     * pediatric extensions of exclusivity are rolled into the
listing for the actual exclusivity that was extended. So there is no
more need to do a mental subtraction of six months from "PED"
expiration dates to discover which exclusivity the pediatric
extension applies to. This is especially helpful when the original
exclusivity expired last year, and so is no longer listed in the
Orange Book!

We also publish most of our data in the form of a two-volume set of
books called the "Orange Book Companion(TM)". More information about
the books is found at our web site.

Please feel free to stop by our web site at
http://www.orangebookpatents.com to read more about the services we
offer and to view our various samples.
