I cannot compete with Uma Suthersanen for comprehensiveness, but if you
are interested in the European scene, can I suggest the paper which I
wrote back in 1999 entitled "Developments in patents documentation in
Europe during the last decade" It published in Journal of Chemical
Information and Computer Sciences, 39(3), 423-431, (1999).
One of the issues which I addressed was how many countries in Western
Europe had a short-term patent/utility model title, and I included
details of the INPADOC Kind of Document codes for those covered in this
file. Bear in mind that it is a little out of date now. I regret that
I cannot supply reprints, since my stock is exhausted.
