Hello Everyone,
While helping Lucy prepare for next year's meeting we were approached by a
company called Attensity. The company has developed software that can be
trained to automatically extract events or teachings from a variety of
different documents and present them to the user in a concise, browsable
format. Some details are provided below.
The company is looking for people to help them create definitions that will
enhance the product for chemical/pharmaceutical patent users. If you are
interested in assisting, contact information is given below:

Attensity Corporation is an NLP software vendor that has developed a tool
to extract teaching events and attributes from patent text with a high
degree of precision. Rather than just another search engine, this
technology utilizes detailed parsing to break the full text down into
individual words and then applies numerous elements of computational
linguistics to arrive at a result that has a % accuracy usually in the
90s. This enables researchers to continually monitor new patents and
other documents based on user-defined parameters and to do so at the deepest
levels of the text. Furthermore, this technology is readily applicable to
call center notes (for Customer Service), real-time feeds (for Marketing),
and virtually any other text repositories, allowing the investment to be
amortized over multiple departments.
We are looking for researchers in the mainstream who will help us develop
a set of event definitions (who, what, where, how, etc.) that can be
leveraged within the chemical/pharmaceutical industry. In return for
participation by select individual(s), we'll do one free extraction of an
agreed-upon set of documents (typically 50,000 records) using the event
definitions you help us create. For more information, please contact
Ellen Gentry, egentry@attensity.com, (801) 328-3669.
Thanks,
Tony
