Dear Suzanne (and all),

Regardless of other channels that you may use in reaching the "USPTO",
please feel free to also send to me by e-mail any formal comments
documents, official PIUG position statements, corporate position
statements, etc. regarding this topic.

As a member of the USPTO Public Patent Advisory Committee, I am
fortunate to have a fairly open conduit to all PTO executive staff.
Further, we (the P-PAC) have two upcoming meetings - one in Oct., one in
Nov., to discuss and advise on, among other things, recommendations
regarding the 21st Century Strategic Plan details. I would be pleased
to present your documents or comments during one or both of these
meetings.

As a matter of record, I have previously entered comments and opinions
regarding a number of issues related to the Search Authority
Certifications, and remain interested and concerned about this provision
of the proposed policy. Additional comments on this issue would be very
welcomed.

Dear all,

I have attempted to send an email to the USPTO regarding their proposals but a reply was sent back directing me to call the USPTO. I was, of course, placed on hold.

If anyone has had better luck reaching the USPTO to raise concerns or ask questions around these very, very important issues please do let me know. I wouldn't want the proverbial rug pulled out from under us without at least some warning!

Best regards,

Below I have provided some extracts from the USPTO 21st century strategic plan, although, not all of the text that relates to patent information and searching. The complete plan is available on the USPTO web site at 388 pages (which I downloaded but haven't read). If implemented, this strategic plan will definitely impact our work in many ways....it is even calling for the periodic re-certification of patent agents! Please take a read below and let me know if you would like to contribute to our collective comments on this. Thanks.
