RE: polystyrene preparation

Hello Clay,

You can search IFI's compound registry terms for substances and polymers we
have indexed in the CLAIMS chemical patent databases (IFIUDB, IFICDB, files
341 and 942). IFI has indexed all US chemical patents issued since 1950, and
a quick check showed that over 5000 of those indexed records reference
reactions producing polystyrene (nearly two-thirds of the chemical patents
in our database have at least one claim to a process or method).

If you would like to contact me directly and about your search, I can give
you more detailed info on how to search in IFI.

Regards,
Darlene

The nature of the search is a 'patentability' search.
What I really want to know is whether a particular
reactant, (which would also have a registry #) has
ever been used as a reactant in generataing
polystyrene. Is it possible for me to search for
reactions based on this 'reactant qualifier.'
