Job Description
A registered patent agent with at least 3 years experience in drafting
and
prosecuting biotechnology patent applications and in
researching patent information in the biotechnology field. The candidate
will have at least a Masters degree (preferably a Ph.D.)
in a biological science (e.g., in immunology, biochemistry, molecular
biology, cell biology) and prior experience in patent
database searching and analysis, including use of the following
databases:
Derwent World Patent Index, Derwent GeneSeq,
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, European Patent Office, and INPADOC,
as
well as experience in prior art analyses, patent
drafting, patent prosecution and freedom to operate analyses. Prior
experience in the antibody field is of particular interest. Job
responsibilities will include: patent drafting, assisting outside law
firms
with patent prosecution, extensive database searching to
identify U.S. and foreign patent documents, preparation of summary
reports,
management of an internal patent database and
coordination with legal, scientific and business development personnel
on
various projects. This position will report to the Chief
Patent Counsel in Milpitas, California and will also support the
Intellectual Property Counsel in Princeton, New Jersey.
