Dear All,

As far as I know, INPADOC-PRS data contains some information regarding
"entry into national phase data" including Japanese information. And I
assume Questel's database contains such INPADOC-PRS record.

For example, WO97/00623 has a entered into Japanese national phase and there
is an equivalent Japanese T2 (KOHYO) document 2000-500001. If you check the
INPADOC-PRS record of WO97/00623, you will find fillowing legal status code:

---------------------------------------------
CC TP DOC.NO. PRSDAT
WO P 9700623 1995/06/21 AA FR 19950621 A 95 9507398 PRIORITY...
1997/12/19 ENP ENTRY INTO THE NATIONAL
PHASE IN:
                                                             JP A 97 503628
---------------------------------------------
*JP A 97 503628 is the application number of the above-mentioned
JP2000-500001T2.

Please refer to the PRS newsletter from the EPO-INPADOC regarding the PCT
entry into the national phase:
http://www.european-patent-office.org/inpadoc/news/prs/prs9806.pdf

You will also find the latest data contents of the INPADOC-PRS on

(JP data coverage: from line 71 to 73)

Sara,

As far as I have been able to observe, Japanese patent applications that go
the PCT route are pulled out of the JPO office process until they are
resubmitted as part of the Japanese domestic phase of the PCT process. When
they are pulled out, only the original filing number remains. (I am sure
that there are some internal processes for tracking them.) If the applicant
does not submit for the domestic phase, there will be no Japanese
equivalent.

If there are multiple Japanese priority applications for a PCT, you may be
able to find equivalent publications for the second and later filings, but
not for the first.

Perhaps someone from Patolis will add some light on Monday.

Does anyone know why a Pluspat record (data presumably from INPADOC)
includes information about entry of a PCT application into Japan, along with
the Japanese application number, etc., while the corresponding WPI record
has no Japanese family member?

It's old enough that I don't think it's just a matter of timing, and this
has happened to me once or twice before. I'm concerned that there may be
Japanese equivalents missing from WPI.
