We are seeking an experienced Attorney interested in joining a dynamic
and growing Biopharmaceutical company. Responsibilities will include
patent prosecution and management of outside counsel for large patent
portfolio and review of publications. Additional responsibilities may
include trademark prosecution, opinion work, review of IP issues in
conjunction with transactions, and preparation and review of IP and
non-IP agreements. This individual must be able to interact with the
company's scientists to maximize the value of the intellectual property.
The ideal candidate needs to be able hit the ground running, as there is
little time to train this individual. The candidate should feel
comfortable with rolling up his/her sleeves as this is a hands on legal
position. It also is an excellent opportunity for the right individual
to join a collegial team working on cutting-edge technology and legal
issues in the area of intellectual property law in biotech/pharma.
Qualifications: Must have a JD and be registered to practice before the
USPTO, substantial technical expertise in molecular biology,
biochemistry, biology, genetics or a related field; and the ability and
desire to develop expertise in new technologies. He or she should
possess superior writing skills and solid academic credentials.
Preferably, candidates will have at least 2-4 years of experience in the
preparation and prosecution of chemical, biotechnology or pharmaceutical
patent applications and related client counseling. Additional desirable
qualifications include experience in licensing, trademarks,
validity/infringement opinions, and IP issues in conjunction with
agreements. An advanced degree in a biological science or substantial
research experience required. Some law firm experience is preferred.
