Hi folks,
I would like to find out what members of this group think about using
the PTO's CASSIS-BIB CD to obtain data on whether U.S. patents have
expired due to nonpayment of maintenance fee? The database includes a
notation of E1, E2, or E3 for a patent if it has expired due to
nonpayment of the first, second, or third maintenance fee, respectively.
Conversations with people at the PTO indicate that if a patent expires
for nonpayment and then is reinstated, the E code is removed in the
database.
Does anybody know of any pitfalls of using this database?
Sincerely,
Mary Ellen
