List members, please note two important developments regarding
patent information from CAS and STN.
1) Older patents in the CA and CAplus family of files on STN have
been enhanced with subject-oriented CA Section Names and
Numbers. Up to now, the patent records in CA volume 1 (1907) and
part of volume 2 (1908) were placed in a section specific to
patents. Now, each of these patent records has been assigned the
appropriate subject-oriented section name and number that was
used in 1907-1908. This enhancement improves retrieval by subject
and increases the value of the pre-1967 information.

2) Technical disclosures from IP.com are now available in the
CAplus database on STN and will be added to the CA file by the
end of June. Coverage is retroactive to January 2001. These
important sources of prior art have special advantages in the
CAplus files on STN: 1) you can search technical disclosures from
both IP.com and Research Disclosure in the same database. 2) you
can also search the wealth of other relevant literature and
patent information in the CAplus files.
