The 3rd edition of the American Chemical Society Committee on Patents and
Related Matter's patent primer, "What Every Chemist Should Know about Patents",
has been posted to the website of the ACS Office of Legislative and Government
Affairs. The URL is
http://www.acs.org/portal/resources?id=2f8c04b055fd11d6fd1c6ed9fe800100

This booklet covers the basics of patent law, with a US slant. Although it was
written by chemists, for chemists, it is really for anyone working in industry
or academia. It is provided as a PDF file, and downloading for non-commercial
use is encouraged. A printed version of the booklet will be available at a
later date.
