Call for Papers
We are preparing the program for the 2002 PIUG Northeast Workshop. This
meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at the Hilton Woodbridge in
Iselin, NJ. We are looking for speakers.
If you are interested in speaking at the PIUG NE Workshop, please send an
abstract and bio to Elyse Turner (elyse_turner@merck.com, 732-594-6418) by
March 31, 2001. Submission of an abstract does not guarantee speaker time
due to the limited time available in a one day workshop.
Please forward this request for papers to anyone you know or provide the
name of a potential speaker to Elyse Turner (elyse_turner@merck.com,
732-594-6418).
The PIUG NE Workshop has included chemistry, non-chemistry and legal topics.
We have a Tips & Tricks session to get users secrets. The most roudy
portion of our workshop has often been the Vendor Roast. Attendees to the
PIUG NE Workshop are generally from the greater New York metropolitan area,
but among our over 100 attendees on October 2001 were people from as far
south as Virginia and as far west as Washington.
Registration is free for PIUG members, $30 for non-members. Note that
membership in PIUG is only $30.
The following topics have been requested:
- PCT practice. Our interest is time lines, filing requirements, national
stage entry, International search, Chapter I and II. Maybe we can get an
attorney to speak on this. There are changes in 2002, so this is a timely
topic.
- Biological Topics: how to unravel the IP story behind them (such as
Interleukins), integration of genomic information and patents
- Client Management: How to customize and target the presentation of
opinions and analysis befitting to business need. Ideally this would be a
"best practices" type of presentation or panel
- I would love a primer on claim types/construction (inclusive, etc..)
- Understanding/Use of ECLA codes
- Understanding/Use of Japanese F-Terms and IF classification codes
- comparison of various classification systems.
- Patent Analyses System
- the attorney's perspective
- what kind of report do yo give to an attorney? Formal? Everything? What
format?
