Julie,

Additional Options:

1. Uses from First DataBank's National Drug Data File (NDDF) (Labeled
and Unlabeled, lists only) are included into Medscape DrugInfo, and
complement uses information from AHFS' Drug Info. Available free on the
Internet.
http://promini.medscape.com/drugdb/search.asp

2. USP DI(r) Volume I: Drug Information for the Health Care
Professional

Off-label uses: includes "additional medically accepted indications" (
which not included in US product labeling, bracketed) and non-accepted
indications.
See example:
http://www.micromedex.com/products/uspdi/samples/ZidovudineUSPVol1.pdf
This file is available on Dialog (file 461).

3. Clinical Pharmacology 2000 online database, available by
subscription.
http://secure.gsm.com:1080/marketing/Product/cp_products.htm

4/ Optional comprehensive strategy for "Off-Label Uses" for (old)
Medline Searching
is included in NLM publication "Off-Label Use of Prescription Drugs"
(CBM 92-11) and may be adopted for Dialog, OVID or PubMED.

Two options off the top of my head. First, Drug Info. This is put out by
the Am Soc of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). They usually include a
section on "Other Uses" that will discuss off-label uses or indications
for
which trials are being currently run. File 229 on Dialog.

Another option may be to try Medline and not out references that discuss
the drug's labelled uses. Review articles can also be helpful.

Does anyone know of a database which describes off-label uses of various
drugs?
We have called Dialog and been told that their pharmaceutical databases
don't have this information.

Thanks
Julie
