Searching PAIR (was - Re: Is something amiss.......again?)

I'm intrigued by one aspect of Stu's findings, namely the ability to
link together continuations within the PAIR service. It has long been
one of the caveats that I point out in my training courses, that it is
impossible in PAIR to search directly on any abandoned intermediate
priorities. The 'Continuity Data' buttons are a useful feature that I
had not come across before, but their application does not seem to have
been retrospective to the whole file. Try searching for 08/096144 then
for 08/571980; both relate to US 5827538 but you can only use the later
application details to retrieve the record.

Can anyone at USPTO comment on how far back the implementation of
'Continuity data' goes in the PAIR service?
