I am, I will admit, totally mystified. I look at US20010056155 and see
that it says that it's a cip of Application 09/579888, now US 6168205. The
PAIR page agrees with this, in both directions: if you look up 09/579888
it takes you to 09/934432, the application for US20010056155. If you look
up 09/934432 it takes you to 09/579888.
But the technology is TOTALLY different. The inventorship is TOTALLY
different. This looks very much to me as if it is a short-circuit--and
we've been told that once errors occur they're going to be perpetuated in
the USPTO databases, which are not geared for corrections. Maybe this is
not an error, but it sure looks like one. Any comments from within the
USPTO?
