At least some of the full text search systems available for patents are
derived from electronic filings, so there is no need to process by OCR.
The published documents may be printed using a system like SGML, and the
raw text part of these files arestripped out to form the full-text
files. Hence there are no transcription errors between the printed
document and the searchable file.
