Yes Neil - the INPADOC documentation shows that AP A0 is a
pseudo-document just like GB-A0 and others. It relates to a notice that
an application has been filed, and appears prior to the publication of
the patent.
You need to take the publication date with a pinch of salt. Since each
issue of the gazette covers a considerable time period, the starting
date of the filing period covered by a given gazette issue is taken as
the date of publication of the A0, even though the gazette itself may
not hit the shelves until much later.
