I've not had the pleasure of attending a Vendor Roast, but those who
criticize the tile should remember that the archetypal "roasts" were the
Friar's Club Roasts, where noted celebrities, especially comedians,
honored their colleagues by "roasting" them. Moral: even honors come a
price. A "roast" is adversarial only if both sides of the table
collaborate to make it so. Sounds as if that was not the case -- not to
worry.
